Storytelling Day
embrace the audacity to talk about your work (without throwing up!)
STORYTELLING DAY
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2ND @ 12pm-5pm
SLIDING SCALE // $75 - $140 CAD
@ Bambino’s 233 James Street North, Hamilton, Ontario
Does this scene feel familiar to you?
You’re sitting at the holiday table when your Uncle’s ex best friends new girlfriend turns to you and asks “So, what do you do?”.
You break out in a sweat, beads dripping down your forehead, as you look for the language to describe your folk fusion punk band’s latest album in a way that honours your art, and gets this woman away from you.
What if you didn’t run away, or sink in your chair, or whisper a response? What if you confidently opened your mouth with the nerve and audacity of Brad the mediocre lawyer across the table, to share the most vulnerable, eloquent, imaginative poetry that is your life’s work!?
The table goes silent. The crowd erupts into APPLAUSE!
Using the ingredients of performance, marketing, and art-making come along on an adventure of a day where we take you from crickets in the audience to a symphony of ways to talk about your work, what you do, and why it matters.
You will walk away wanting to YAP. 🎤
Talking about your work is the first step (and we would argue potentially the only step) you need to make to cross the threshold into turning your art into a thriving business.
No more crossing your fingers hoping the algo delivers, waiting for the “right time” to pitch, or hoping an art director sees your email.
IT IS ABSOLUTELY OUR BELIEF THAT YOU COULD HAVE A VERY GENERATIVE CREATIVE PRACTISE WITH 0 FOLLOWERS, NO WEBSITE, WITH JUST THE IMMENSE SKILL OF TALKING ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHAT YOU DO TO EVERYONE YOU MEET.

What we’re getting done:
SAMPLE AGENDA // *subject to tweaking and change cause DYE is in fact run by two neurodivergent hotties, but general vibes…
12-1 STORYTELLING // Opening circle, warm ups, shaking it off, and getting a lil’ weird. Identify stories only you can tell + when to tell ‘em. ⭐️
1-2:30 PERFORMANCE OF PITCHING // We write + rehearse! Let’s get this story into the world in a way that feels good, PLUS brings in the goods! 🌊
2:30-3 BREAK // Hydration and food are PARAMOUNT in the creative process! 🌿
3-4 MAKE STUFF // We start to craft your media/idea/pitch, bringing your stories to life! With time for feedback, performance coaching, + asking the group “how do i just….?” and “do you think this is a good idea…?” 🎨
4-5 WE TAKE THE STAGE // We share our works/pitches/stories to the most loving, kind, supportive audience you’ve literally ever met. 🎭
All the while supported by a group of brilliant, weirdo, artists and multi-hyphen hotties that are creating TOGETHER (you’re going to make some IRL friends!).
you’ll leave with…
a clear understanding of your own narrative voice and unique perspective 🎭
three developed stories (only you can tell) to increase your sales and connect with your audience (that you can repurpose for proposals, content, elevator pitch) 💸
practices that will help you build confidence when sharing about your work, pitching your services, and selling your skills ❤️
some extras in the day...
snacks, coffee, tea included to fuel your creativity 🍎
access to our invite only Slack, The Academy, filled with free events and content only available to our workshop alumni ✨
a replay photo of you slaying the storytelling to use for your latest “please include a photo” 📸
video footage of your pitch/story/performance so you can sharpen and replicate, again and again 🎥
This day is for anyone who pitches their work through any platform, at any time, in any way. If you have something to share with the world that you make/offer/create/do - this day is for you.
You will leave knowing how to turn an anecdote about a client win, work on a project, the weather, your nightly skincare routine, into stories that sell your skills, and make you money.

-
Here is the thing. We fundamentally believe we are all artists. Like if you work at a big glossy building in a grey suit, you are an artist. If that is a title you don’t wanna claim yet, that’s not our business.
BUT if you’re actually saying:
“I have an office job that isn’t creative!”
“I don’t make money selling my art.”
“I never wanna sell my art!”
“I am not a conventional “creative” person.”
We are so excited and ready to work with you! If you have a little spark inside you to create something and usher it into this world, you my friend, are an artist.
-
No, not at all. We ARE NOT going to make you “yes, and” to improv games. We ARE going to use the elements of storytelling, performance, and theater to help you build stories in your marketing that make you money. We encourage folks who experience stage fright or the sticky feelings of sharing in public to attend, and we will have various degrees of opt-in. You are your own best guide.
-
The workshop is priced on a sliding scale, $75-$140 CAD.
-
Hell yeah! We even have a bring a friend discount code to register them! Email doyouevermedia@gmail.com for the code. 💕
